W.Va. activist groups announce support for Obama budget plan
March 29, 2009. The West Virginia Citizen Action Group began its campaign last week to support President Obama's budget proposals.
Those proposals, WV-CAG and its affiliates believe, will make affordable health care available to everyone, promote greater educational opportunities, promote clean energy and lessen dependence on foreign oil.

Several nonprofit special-interest groups are urging members of the House Budget Committee to vote in favor of President Barack Obama’s proposed 2010 budget this week.
U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, has already been the target of two grassroots campaigns advocating the passage of the $3.6 trillion budget.

TERRE HAUTE — Groups supporting President Barack Obama’s first budget are launching a TV ad campaign in Terre Haute and around Indiana this week aimed at pressuring Hoosier lawmakers to support the Obama spending plan.
Americans United for Change, a group formed in 2005 to fight President George W. Bush’s plans to partially privatize Social Security, has joined with environmental and labor groups to air a TV commercial supporting the Obama budget in states with “moderate” congressional lawmakers, an official from the organization said Wednesday.

A laundry list of Virginia activist groups are coming together to support President Barack Obama's budget.
Jewel Royal is one of those supporters. She works at a Virginia nursing home as a certified nurse's assistant. She hurt her back on the job and doesn't have insurance.
"I have no medical coverage," she said in an interview. "I have a bunch of bills, a bunch of doctor bills."
With more than $100,000 in medical bills, Royal tried to get insurance on her own.

Liberal activist group USAction will air TV ads pressuring four Blue Dog Democrats on the House Budget Committee to support President Obama's budget, the group announced today. It also started robocalls targeting the members last week. The members are Reps. Marion Berry (AK), Allen Boyd (FL), Charlie Melancon (LA), and Chet Edwards (TX).
Raleigh rally backs Obama budget
RALEIGH -- Supporters of the President's three and a half trillion dollar budget rallied in downtown Raleigh Thursday.
Members of the Conservation Council of NC, Environment NC, The Arc of NC, Black Women's Caucus, ACORN, NC State AFL-CIO, and some state legislators took part.
They say the plan will rebuild and renew America by pumping money into healthcare and education. But critics say three and a half trillion dollars is just too much on top of bailouts and stimulus money.
One state representative says it's a tough call.
