Groups Rally In Support Of President's Proposed Budget

March 23, 2009 - WLAJ News (ABC 3 Michigan)

Several citizen's groups rallied outside the state capitol Monday supporting President Obama's proposed buget.

They also praised Sen. Debbie Stabenow for supporting the plan.

Those at the rally said it promises to reform health care, create new clean energy opportunities, rebuild jobs and give tax cuts to the middle class.

"There are critical pieces in the budget for clean energy that we as a nation, and Michigan in particular, can stand to benefit tremendously from by turning our economy around through producing clean energy," said the Michigan Director of Clean Water Action Cyndi Roper.

Congress is scheduled to take up Obama's budget this week.

A study by the congressional budget office suggested the plan will push the deficit to $9.3 trillion over the the next decade, a number much larger than the Obama administration estimated.
